Does the Statue of Liberty Weep?

Does the Statue of Liberty weep when 9/11 comes around?
Do Americans, all of us, get a good night sleep, when 9/11 comes around?
Do we all feel like swallowing back, the tears that build up deep in side?
Will we ever regain that confidence that we all once took in stride?
When the bells toll at 8:49 will the curtains in Heaven part?
Will the souls that we lost that day lend us their brave hearts?
Will we learn how to be brave and keep our eyes in a steady gaze...when the TV shows us Lady Liberty looking out through that morning's haze?
Will we notice the Statue weeping when 9/11 comes around?
Or will we have our eyes averted in prayer, looking at the ground?
Have we gotten battle hardened or do we all still feel the pain?
Will we forget the people lost on that awful day?
Will the heroes we look up to weep on 9/11 and think of us that day?
Or will they think their same old thoughts and think only who they can blame?
